Committees and task forces depend upon volunteers
who donate their time, energy and expertise to
carry out the business of the organization. Most
meet 3-5 times per year between the months of
September and May.
Joining a committee or task force is a great
way to meet new people, network with other camp
professionals who share your interests, and put
your energy, knowledge and enthusiasm to work
for a great cause.
The Fall Seminar Committee
is responsible for planning and producing an educational
seminar primarily focused on issues of interest
to year-round camp administrative professionals.
Topics cover business management, risk management,
staffing issues, legal issues, child development,
facility management and other topics directed
to career camp professionals.
The Fund Development Committee
is responsible for the oversight of all ACA New
England fundraising activities in accord with
the stated priorities of the Association and under
the direction of the Board of Directors. The funds
raised are used to support ACA New England's efforts
to provide the public and our members with high
quality services and programs. The areas of responsibility
cover the Annual Fund drive, The George N. Sudduth
Endowment, and planned giving programs and opportunities.
The Membership Committee is
responsible for recruiting new members and new
camps to ACA New England. The committee also works
to retain current members and camps. It promotes
the awareness of membership benefits while providing
and supporting networking opportunities for members
with similar talents and interests.
The Emerging Camp Professional Committee (ECPs)
is focused on working with camp professionals with less than six years' experience, who work in key decision-making positions in a resident or day camp environment. The ECP committee is dedicated to working on ways to integrate new professionals into the professional world of camp and getting people involved with different committees or organizations. They plan social, professional development, and industry-impacting opportunities.
The Public Awareness Committee
is responsible for increasing awareness of ACA
New England, ACA accredited camps and the value
of the camp experience. Initiatives focus on developing
ACA New England’s public relations agenda.
The Legislative Committee works to coordinate legislative efforts by uniting camp professionals, state associations, and lawmakers in an effort to create effective and streamlined regulatory practices and to address a variety of relevant governmental and legal issues as our camps face them.
The
ACA New England Conference is ACA
New England’s primary educational program.
Offered every spring the 2006 conference will
be in Manchester, NH. Since the Conference usually
serves between 800-900 people, the sheer volume
of work required to make the conference successful
necessitates multiple committees and many, many
volunteers.
The Conference Steering Committee
is responsible for the overall planning
of the annual conference. This group sets
conference fees, manages the vendor hall, compiles
the brochure, etc. They work closely with
the conference Program Committee to provide
the best educational opportunities possible.
The Conference Program Committee
is usually chaired by someone from the state
that is hosting the conference for that year.
Committee members will typically also come from
the host state, but anyone interested may participate.
The Program Committee determines what the overall
theme of the conference will be and then recruits
the appropriate speakers and/or educators. Each
state hosts the conference on a rotating basis.
The Exhibit Hall Committee
coordinates vendors for the Trade Show and committee
members act as hosts for vendors once the conference
begins.
