Resident Assistant Director, Hulbert Outdoor Center

Position Title: Resident Assistant Director
Responsible to: Hulbert Outdoor Center Director
Responsible for:
 

  1. Coordinator of all programs, leadership staff, and facilities associated with Hulbert’s Lake Morey Site.
  2. Management and expansion of Hulbert’s Lake Morey site adult programs.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree.
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in residential program organization and management.
  • Leadership experience in many aspects of a typical outdoor center program including teambuilding, wilderness trip leadership, outdoor skill development, site rentals and collaborative programming with other organizations & agencies.
  • Extensive experience in staff training, leadership, and oversight.
  • Experience in the oversight of high & low ropes course elements and programs as defined by ACCT, AEE, & ACA standards and accreditation programs.
  • Experience in all aspects of new program development, sales & marketing.
  • Experience in the “Greening” of a program and facility management
  • A willingness to roll up your sleeves and mop floors, set tables, lead program and in general, do what needs to be done 24 / 7 to ensure that our customers the highest quality experience possible
  • Strong written skills that will support preparing material for our quarterly newsletter.
  • Experience with Boards of Directors and oversight management of a non-profit.
  • Current WFA - WFR preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clear driving record.
  • Able to lift and carry 40 lbs.

General Responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate and supervise Hulbert’s Lake Morey (LM) site use, including but not limited to: Schools Programs, Elderhostel, Leadership Training, Facility Rental, and Special Events.
  • Coordinate and supervise Hulbert’s LM site leadership staff including but not limited to: the site registrar, the site program directors, the kitchen staff, the buildings and grounds staff, and summer ropes course supervisory staff.
  • Manage directly the continuation and expansion of Hulbert’s LM site adult programming including but not limited to Weekend Adult Facility Rentals and Team Development Programs
    • Ensure the implementation of Aloha Foundations policies and procedures within these programs
    • Manage program development, sales and marketing initiatives for these programs.
    • Recruit, hire, train & supervise all staff necessary to run said programs.
    • Manage overall sound financial management with an annual increasing positive net budget within these programs.
    • Represent these programs on the Aloha Foundation Program Group, A-Team, and Board of Trustees.
    • Oversee all legal and risk management policies and procedures as they pertain to these programs.
  • Act as the liaison when necessary between Hulbert’s LM site’s and other Foundation Departments including food service, buildings and grounds, business office, and development office.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of risk management procedures in the broader outdoor experiential education field, and assist the director in ensuring that adequate procedures are followed throughout all of Hulbert’s programming.
  • Act as one of on-site representative of the Hulbert directorate, supporting all programs in residence when needed, and providing leadership in emergency management and other problem situations.
  • Oversee the care & use of Hulbert Outdoor Center high & low ropes course elements & programs, year round. This may include, but is not limited to, oversight of program staff training and course & equipment seasonal & annual inspections.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of appropriate program & site accreditation procedures and guidelines
  • Create and maintain appropriate relations with our summer camp communities regarding the sharing of buildings, grounds, and equipment.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the Hulbert Outdoor Center Director.
  • Serve as acting director in the director’s absence.

Compensation: Competitive salary, plus room and (limited)board. Additional benefits, including medical and dental insurance, 401K retirement, paid vacation, sick, holiday time, and staff allowance.
