For day and resident camp directors with 0-1 or perhaps 2 years of camp directing.
Course content:
- The job of the camp director
- Leadership and models for staff structure, training and supervision
- Handling difficult people
- Interviewing, hiring, cultivating and firing
- Camper discipline
- Program development
- Risk and crisis containment
- Problem solving
The workshop is integrated into the ACA New England Conference, and the NCDW faculty will suggest other sessions to help broaden your educational experience during the weekend. This will be a hands-on, upbeat, creative training and will model techniques that may be used with your staff. You will hear different approaches to some areas of your new job, and you can expect to play and think hard and to stretch your ways of thinking.
